Shepherding has been an occupation practiced here since before Hungary existed as a country. Isolated from outside influences, shepherds and herders have been the most important sources and keepers of Hungarian folk culture. Their body of beliefs, crafts, music, songs and dance preserve the most valuable layer of our culture. Memory from before written record comes alive in their art.
For our Shepherd’s Day celebration we have invited shepherds that possess great traditional knowledge, and who are outstanding in song, dance, music or other crafts.
