Flamenco y poesía - Flamenco night with the Lyrics of Lorca

Flamenco was born out of life's simple needs and its accompanying experiences. It is a form of expression that sings and dances about birth, death, love, fear, loss, and the difficulties of change. In song and dance, one can come together while still individually narrating what is good and what hurts. Therefore, flamenco is somewhere beautifully simple and clear, yet from another perspective, an unfathomable labyrinth—a blend of raw power, delicate elegance, and gentle attention according to the rules of a tradition spanning centuries.

We invite you to a special flamenco night, where the texture of traditional songs and dances is interwoven with the beautiful Spanish-language poetry of Federico García Lorca, the most renowned poet of this world in our homeland. The lines of Lorca, born in Granada, seamlessly fit into the pulsating rhythms, visceral melodies, and beautiful guitar passages, as they draw inspiration from the same people, cities, scents, winds, and destinies. It's no wonder that many flamenco singers have drawn from Lorca's verses during the evolution of flamenco literature. In our performance, we explore this mutual, artistically intertwined connection that knows no temporal boundaries.

It will be an evening that, on the one hand, transports you to the distant shores of the Mediterranean Sea and, on the other hand, is a very contemporary, very present, and sincere 'conversation' in the traditional musical and dance language of flamenco. The guitarist for the evening is Krisztián Rőthy, a musician and music producer living and creating in Granada for almost a decade. The songs and the verses spoken in Spanish are interpreted by Jorge Díez Aragón, hailing from Huelva, Spain. Completing the traditional trio of flamenco is Petra Böröcz, a flamenco dance artist. Responsible for the essential rhythm of the genre, the compás, is Anikó Bózsa. The program is built on the improvisational traditions of flamenco, bringing together these four artists in a unique encounter.
